America's First Line Air Force Capability Being Lost?
I Suspected this all along. Obama and his sycophant, Defense Sec. Gates, cancelled the first line, air superiority, stealth fighter, the F-22 in favor of a cheaper airplane, the F-35. You guessed it, another bad decision that will hurt America and prevent us from penetrating Iran's air space should we be forced to in the future.
The F-35, a one size fits all "money saver", is behind schedule and over budget. Meanwhile the F22 production will end due to "budget cuts and savings". I found some good links to Investor's Business Daily at Common Cents. I advise you to stop by Common Cents and check out this informative blog.
Here is the Information on the F-35
Defense: The administration decision to scrap a proven aircraft in favor of a supposedly cheaper, more flexible replacement is proving to be an expensive mistake. We may wind up defenseless and broke.
The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter that was supposed to be America's frontline fighter for the foreseeable future is in big trouble. Defense Secretary Robert Gates fired the general in charge of the program this week amid concerns of spiraling costs and program delays.
Gates also announced he is withholding $614 million in fees from the prime contractor, Lockheed Martin. Daniel J. Crowley, one of Lockheed Martin's project managers, has acknowledged that the program is running at least six months behind schedule.
Gates was questioned about the program at a Senate hearing on Tuesday. He said he was unaware of a report by a special Pentagon assessment team in late 2008 that found development of the plane could be delayed by 2 1/2 years with $16.6 billion in cost overruns. Judging by his decisions, he is not unaware that the F-35 program, designed to fill the needs of all three services, is in trouble.

The Raptor is perhaps the only plane that could evade the sophisticated S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system Russia has contracted to sell Iran. "Only the F-22 can survive in airspace defended by increasingly capable surface-to-air missiles," declares Air Force Association President Mike Dunn. source
Some Say Incompetence and Some Say Deliberate
The Obama reverse Midas touch continues. Everything he tries to do fails, and it fails at the expense of the American people, our taxpayers, and our national security.
Is it incompetence or deliberate weakening of America as part of redistributing the wealth and paving the way for socialism in America?

I say deliberate. Every Democratic president in recent history has done whatever possible to slash and hurt our military and it's standing in the world.
IMHO, it's a deliberate attempt to undermine what every good progressive views as an unnecessary bit of American imperial hardware. We only use such things to enforce our view on the rest of the world, don'tcha know.
If the U.S. is attacked during the current administration - and it probably will be - he won't have a clue what to do. The left neither respects nor understands the military, nor what it can do.
We're in serious trouble.
Didn't the Soviets try this lighter, cheaper military? That went well.
Brooke, very good, wish I had said that in my original blog posting. Thanks
Rev. Paul.
I agree, we are in serious trouble. The leftists and socialist civilians are forcing their political correctness on the military. The most extreme example is the commanding general at Ft. Hood and all his politically correct steps to avoid admitting that it was a terrorist, jihad attack. I Suspect that other commanders, of the same ambitious nature are following suit. It is sad.
The leftist president and his radical appointees would not have a clue how to defend America. And they may be selecting military advisors (as at Ft Hood) who will go along with the politicians.
Right Chuck. Lighter, cheaper for the military and $4billion more again next year for Acorn. Spreading the wealth from America's military to Chicago style political thugs.

yes the Midas touch in reverse!
Too bad I can’t spell “da-ja-vue”. Robert McNamara forced a “one size fits all” fighter back in the Sixties. The F-111 was supposed to serve the Air Force, Navy and Marines. It came on line way behind schedule and way over budget. And like a Swiss Army Knife that tries to do too many things, it didn’t do any of them very well. The Air Force finally made them work. But it couldn’t be made to fit the Navy or Marines missions.
McNamara came from an industry where the biggest difference in the product line was the “front clip”. So one size fits all mostly worked there. And “Strange” was his middle name. Gates doesn’t have that excuse.
What in the world are they thinking when they made that decision? Should they sacrifice efficiency for cost? They have not actually saved anything. I agree, it is really an expensive mistake. And we're going to pay for it with our dear life.
Baxter, the saying "Those who are ignorant of history are bound to repeat it" was never truer. These kids, inexperienced socialists and people who have never worked or studied history are making the same mistake. "One size fits all" doesnt work in fighter aircraft any more than it does in trucks and automobiles. Would you use a VW to haul steel across the country or an 18 wheeler to go to Safeway?
This level of grade school intelligence and reasoning is absent in this government full of thugs and socialists.
Mark, thanks for visiting my blog and making a comment, thank you and please come back.
The socialist and Muslim/Mulsim supporters are thinking if you can get a few $billion dollars out of national denfense and put it into Acorn and union political thugs it will better for socialism and for Islamic radicals.
