Newt Gingrich is Unfit to be President and Has Lost his Way

Here are some Highlights and Examples

1) First there was the Fawning over Hillary Clinton in 2008 source.

Newt Gingrich’s on-again, off-again adulation of Hillary Rodham Clinton appears to be back on.

The leader of the 1994 Republican revolution — who as House speaker in the mid 1990s clashed fiercely with then-first lady Clinton and her husband, Bill Clinton — attributed her surprise victory in New Hampshire to the Democratic presidential candidate’s courage, integrity and openness.

After Clinton’s third-place finish in the Jan. 3 Iowa Democratic caucuses, “it would have been very easy for her to have broken, accepted defeat,” Gingrich said in a weekly podcast e-mailed to supporters.

“Instead, starting on Saturday night, she fought back with greater and greater intensity, and she opened herself up," Gingrich went on. “She talked as a person, without all the protection, without all the discipline, and she became more and more appealing.”

Gingrich said that shift demonstrated “the courage to learn” and enabled the New York senator to grow “in the space of three or four days to a much more attractive, much more aggressive and much more appealing candidate.”

Here we had Newt and Hillary with Hillary looking pretty good in the campaign and Newt sucking up like the Iraqis who threw their weapons away and kissed the hands and boots of Coalition soldiers nearly 2 decades earlier. This disgusting apple polishing proved Newt was composed of weaker stuff.

2) Then there was Newt’s Conversion on the Road to Boston source.

My esteem for the political intellect of former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is second to no one's. That said, by appearing in the latest Al Gore propaganda commercial, he joins a disturbingly growing number of ostensibly green-turning Republicans -- our president among them -- who thereby cast doubt upon their own conservative resolve.

Harder still to reconcile is this: unlike that given by George Bush last week, Newt's explanation for his apparent duplicity rings excruciatingly hollow and ultimately fraudulent. Leaving dumbfounded admirers to wonder whether they'll ever learn why -- and why now?

The ad by Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection features Newt sitting on a Loveseat (of all things) with Nancy Pelosi (of all people) with the Capitol Building (of all places) looming large in the background. After cursory introductions and each confessing that they don't "always see eye-to-eye," Newt looks into the camera and states "but we do agree our country must take action to address climate change." [my emphasis]

Now, while this may have shocked many viewers who thought only the amphibious newt to be green, in reality it didn't abruptly crawl out of a pond.

During an April 2007 debate on the subject with the insufferable John Kerry [video], Newt opened by effectively ceding the point of anthropogenic global warming to his not-so-jolly green opponent. Even before Kerry could utter a single word of eco-babble, Newt admitted his thoroughly off beam conviction

"that the evidence is sufficient that we should move towards the most effective possible steps to reduce carbon loading in the atmosphere."

Newt was again blatantly pandering to the Democrats he thought would win the election and maybe give him a plumb appointment in the new Administration. No class and no honor huh Newt? At this point Newt had permanently strayed over the line from Republican to RINO.

3) The Latest: Newt On Powell and the “…traditional Southern, right wing states…”source.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich backed Dick Cheney’s critique of the Obama administration’s anti-terror policy Sunday, calling it one of several ‘big mistakes’ being made in national security by the Democrats.

But he broke ranks with the former vice president over Colin Powell, saying that the former Secretary of State belonged in the party and that Republicans should be the party of the ‘big tent’ even if fights broke out in that tent from time to time.

“I don't want to pick a fight with Dick Cheney, but I think, the fact is the Republican Party has to be a broad party that appeals across the country and that does so--I mean, we have the governor of Vermont, we have the governor of Rhode Island,” Gingrich said.

“These, these are not states that are traditional Southern, right wing states --- to be a national party you have to have a big enough tent that you inevitably have fights inside the tent … I think Republicans are going to be very foolish if they run around deciding that they're going to see how much they can purge us down to the smallest possible base."

Asked if he’s thinking about running for president in 2012, Gingrich said he’d be glad to accept an invitation to discuss that possibility “in early 2011. I'm not going to think about it till 2011.”

To Newt, who has caught a severe case of Potomac Fever, and can no longer think outside of the Washington, DC Beltway, Obama-supporter Powell is OK but the Southern states are traditionally right wing states. Again, Newt is 180 degrees out of phase with reality and the conservatives who form the Republican base.

This is clearly a case of biased and leftward thinking:…”traditional Southern, right wing states…” The southern states are mainstream Republican, and Republican unity is not at all served by Newt’s pejorative.

Mr. Gingrich, sorry to disabuse your myopic, self important, and DC-centric view, but Powell is an Obama supporter, based on race, and has no Republican core principles; most notable conservatism, equal opportunity for all, and loyalty.

What these Three Examples Show
There are many more examples of Newt’s downfall, but the three examples above are enough to demonstrate it beyond a doubt.

First, Newt will crawl in with Hillary or anyone else he sees as winning the presidential election. If he had been more perceptive, no doubt he would have been an Obama supporter. Newt bet on the wrong Democrat horse and lost. What in the devil makes him think he still have a place as a Republican leader? He is out of touch, out of phase, and a RINO. Newt belongs over there in the Democrat party with Hillary and Kerry, Powell, and others of a like mind and lack of core values.

Newt, betray your beliefs and your party if you wish, but then don’t turn around and betray the Democrats and run back and hope to be a Republican president. You bet on the wrong horse (Hillary) and lost your loyalty and integrity to the Republicans who treated you very well.

Newt, you are a phony and an opportunist. You falsely profess belief in global warming when the Democrats are ahead and then want to be a Republican again. Methinks your lying, spinning, and sucking up landed you right where you belong—with the Democrats.
