Mexico: A Failed State May Experience “Sudden Collapse”
This report, and the other ones mentioned below, is one of the most positive things to come out of the Bush Administration in the last 8 years. For years the US and Mexico have been in denial and involved in a massive propaganda campaign and cover-up. With the Bush Administration over, the threat of reprisals and revenge from President Bush is at an end, and some officials and agencies in the government are sounding the long overdue warnings.
Actually, these warnings were heard during the Reagan Administration but were subsequently suppressed under the Bushes and Clintons for the last 20 years. The following excerpts are from the El Paso Times via Drudge. source
U.S. military report warns 'sudden collapse' of Mexico is possibleSNIP

EL PASO - Mexico is one of two countries that "bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse," according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats.
The command's "Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)" report, which contains projections of global threats and potential next wars, puts Pakistan on the same level as Mexico. "In terms of worse-case scenarios for the Joint Force and indeed the world, two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico.
Any descent by Mexico into chaos would demand an American response based on the serious implications for homeland security alone."SNIP
The report is one in a serious focusing on Mexico's internal security problems, mostly stemming from drug violence and drug corruption. In recent weeks, the Department of Homeland Security and former U.S. drug czar Barry McCaffrey issued similar alerts about Mexico.
What a “Sudden Collapse” Might Mean
First of all, the violence and murders would be appalling and match or exceed, in scope the brutality, and barbarity we have seen in the Middle East. Second, it would rapidly spill over the border and pose the biggest national security threat to the US since Pearl Harbor. Third, mass refugee flight of tens of millions north might bring about social and economic collapse and open civilian warfare in the Southwest as the murders and corrupt military joined the flight. Fourth, the US military would be drawn in and forced to restore order in the Southwest and in Mexico.
Given the pro-Mexican, anti-American policy of the US government since 1989, it is not clear how the civil unrest and military operations would proceed. A worst case scenario is that US citizens would be caught between: 1) marauding criminal invaders, 2) millions of looting and hostile refugees, and 3) the US Military forces. With the Bush-Clinton legacy and the socialist, open borders, one-world philosophy of the Obama Administration, it is quite likely that US citizens would suffer attack from these three sides.
After untold deaths and violence and suffering, the Mexican dreams of conquering most of the western US might happen through overwhelming occupation by Mexican criminals and refugees and politically correct bargaining by the US to reach a “peaceful solution” through surrender of territory and appeasement of violent invaders/occupiers. As we saw in Yugoslavia, this initial breakup of the United States would only be the first step.
It is sad to think of what might have been. But, if we had an Israeli type fence along the entire border, it could be easily patrolled and protected. Sigh. If we only had a strong, conservative, pro-American President and a responsible Congress, we might make it. Sigh.
The Unfortunate Position of the Mexican People
The grip of the corrupt Mexican elite, government, and drug cartels is so strong that nothing short of a complete revolution and overthrow of the existing system will bring relief and the hope of freedom to Mexicans. But the timing is such a tragedy. How unfortunate that the US is in the grip of Socialists and forces aligned against freedom at this time of great peril. We are more likely to offer help in a restoration of socialist tyranny than in bringing freedom to our neighbor.

Father God, please send us another Ronald Reagan, and grant us the wisdom to vote him into office, before it's too late.
If this happens, Mexico will drag us down with her rapidly rather then the slow poisoning they are currently doing.
Rev. Paul. Thank you and I join in your prayer.
Brooke. Well said, I think you are correct.
When was Mexico ever stable? The narco-cracy corruption has been out of control for as long as I can remember, and EPR's attacks in Mexico go unreported here in the US, but the Mexican government is in a constant state of defending itself.

The fact that it's mentioned now just shows how slow we are to respond.
Kevin.
Mexico has been unstable for decades as many of us have been saying. But the open border crowd seeks to supress the news.
President Reagan's Sec. of Defense had the Pentagon draw up contingency plans for war with Mexico. Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II covered that up and the MSM went alongwith the big lie.
Like all cover-ups, this only made things worse to the extent that more peopled were killed this year in Mexico than in Iraq. Something wicked's coming north.
The narco-cracy..great word to depict it all!
May I suggest that all of you folks begin to learn the Spanish language, start traveling in Mexico, make some friends down in Mexico, and read as much as you can about the history of Mexico. If you will devote 12 months to such an effort, I am 100% sure that you will retract all of the nonsense you have written on this blog. Good luck!
