Is there Hope for a Conservative Republican Party?
Background
We have had 8 years of “Compassionate Conservatives” under George W. Bush, one of the really big spenders, who in his first term did not veto a single Congressional appropriations bill. He also helped lose the 2006 and 2008 elections bringing us to Obama. Before that, we had 8 years of the Clintons. And before that, we had 4 years of George H. W. Bush (“Read my lips, no new taxes” followed by a huge tax increase). We have not had a conservative Republican Party or a conservative President since Ronald Reagan. Altogether that’s 20 years of shriveling and shrinking and leftward leaning Republicans.
Is there a Conservative Future for the Republican Party?
Who knows? The forces against it, John McCain, Newt Gingrich, and other RINO’s are trying hard to swing the Party even further left.
But there are some indicators we should watch for in the next year or so.
1) Watch how the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference CPAC goes.
This conference is being held Feb. 26-28 in Washington, DC. The conference should provide some early indicators of which direction the Republican Party will take.
• One big hint: Watch how they treat Sarah Palin and where she appears on the program. She is the only real conservative in the Party with national standing.
• Another big hint: Listen to who trots out the Democratic Party line of “reaching across the aisle” and avoid these idiots like you would Obamanites because that’s what they really are.
2) Watch who the MSM attacks the most.
These will be the individuals with the most to offer conservatives. So far, Gov. Palin is leading this race.
3) Listen carefully to what “would be” Republican leaders say about abortion, the bailout, the bloated budget, gun control, illegal immigration (called comprehensive immigration reform by those who seek to betray America), and higher taxes on the rich.
A politician who supports any of these is, deep down in his heart, a socialist.
4) Bipartisanship. Anyone who says this is either a Democrat in sheep’s clothing or doesn’t understand what the word means in today’s America. In today’s America this terms means a person who agrees to negotiate and cooperate with the Democrats under the rules “What belongs to the Democrats is theirs and what belongs to the Republicans is negotiable”.
I hope we all watch for and avoid RINO’s because 2010 is just around the corner.

Amen, brother! You've obviously been listening to my conversations.
Don't you love how "bipartisan" from the mouth of Democrat means the Republicans agree with THEM?
I don't know that the Republican party can remake itself fast enough to keep themselves afloat, so we'll wait ... and watch ... with you.
If anything will bring us a conservative backlash, it will be Obama's presidency. Already, he is ruling by executive order and appearing on Arab news.
Rev. Paul, thank you for your comments. I don't know if the Republican Party can really reform enough to be a viable political party in future. Returning to the principles of our Founding Fathers and its conservative base are the first two steps.
Let's hope they make it. Starting a new political party is difficult.
Brooke, thanks for the comments and I hope you are correct.
If our first socialist and Muslim president cannot recharge the Republican party, nothing will.
I think one of the big signs is the election of the RNC chair this week. Who is elected will be real telling on the direction of the party.
Chuck, the Chair of the RNC should be a good indicator. But I cannot tell which are conservatives and which are RINO's.
And advice on who might be conservative?
Good point, tough call
I am not quite so hopeful my friend..but continue to enlighten please!
Angel, thanks for the comment. Please take heart, hope remains.
The house GOP showed some guts for a change today and voted against the emperor's plan to destroy us and turn us into a welfare state. But the free lunchers had the majority
Let's be honest to ourselves The republican party its on a downfall.
only if they modernize and really focus on the "real issues" of the moment and there might be a change there.Honestly there are some things that are inevitable.
Menendez/La Raza/obamacare link
Hello fellow conservatives,
Please read the following regarding the Menendez, La Raza and Obamacare link. It will open your eyes and you will want to do something about it, like using the info to stop Menendez from voting for Obamacare.
